Bookshelf Whispers by Bhagyashree Ranade

I wanted to pick up the book solely because of it's title. It made me think - what would a bookshelf even whisper about? It would probably whisper stories and their spoilers...
Well that's exactly what this book is! Bookshelf Whispers is set in Prabhu Wada, Pune and revolves around the lives of it's inhabitants. Each person has their individual story, and all of them are weaved together beautifully to create Bookshelf Whispers-Whispers: A tale of love, life and legacy.
Starting with a beautiful description of Pune and the Wada, the author introduces us to the various characters- Surya and Gayatri, Emelie, Akinsa, Renu and Dhruv. Emelie is a foreign exchange student while Akinsa is a typical Indian Marathi boy. Their backgrounds are vastly different yet they fall in love with each other. This is their story.
The pace of the book is slow, it lingers on the description of the characters and surroundings a lot. It would have been a lot more interesting if the story was fast paced and focused on actions.
My ratings- 4/5. A good read!
