A Wandering Zephyr: Deep Musings by Sarmishta Gupta

Genre: Poetry
Pages: 180

Sarmishta Gupta has beautifully compiled a 100+ poems of various moods, flavors and themes in her book A Wandering Zephyr. I once read that "Poetry is when an emotion has found its thought and the thought has found words." and I was reminded of this quote as I read this book. Each poem is like a custom crafted experience for the reader.

There are 123 poems, and each poem deals with different emotions and experiences. The themes range from womanhood to growing up/age, magical realism and sensuality, love and hurt. Every one of the poems is a treat to read.

A beautiful artwork accompanies each poem and adds to it's experience. Kudos to the artist for their selection!

If I were to choose a favourite poem from this, it would be She is as She pleases; and excerpt from it to enjoy:
She's the chocolate-chip in cookies,
Ready to melt in smoothies-
She squeals, she steals,
she guffaws into peals,
Strawberry and cream,
rock solid when moments scream-
She breezes; she graces,
she dreams; she wishes-
Dali's surrealism; Picasso's vision,
She hovers among God's own creation!

My views:
I loved it! The language is a bit on the heavier side but the it has the intended effect. The quality of the poems is amazing! It is a great past time read!
Ratings: 4/5
