5 THINGS THAT CHANGED MY LIFE FOR BETTER IN 2020

2020 has been a rough year for all of us. However, it also gave me a new perspective towards life. For some reason, it made me want to better myself. Here are the five habits that I followed, and am still following, which have made my life significantly better.

However, do note that I am no life coach, and these are not any huge secrets or difficult habits. These are some simple, minor changes in my day-to-day life that made a positive impact on my life.

The first habit is DRINKING WATER. Water is the most underrated drinks of all times. It is the solution to absolutely everything, from acne and oily skin to digestion issues. Note that I did not say drink more water. The key to benefit more from drinking water is to figure out the right amount of water to drink. We can function easily by drinking less or more water than required, because its side effects are not as drastic. The average amount of water to be drunk is 3-3.5 bottles a day or 9 glasses a day.

The second habit is BULLET JOURNALING. There is not a lot of difference between writing a diary and keeping a journal, but bullet journaling has a little more to it than simply noting your thoughts. You can personalize your journal to include your daily tasks; tracking your habits, weight, meals, etc.; planning your month/year- it is a notebook that helps organize your life. For me, it helped me plan my tasks for the day better, keep a track of my meals and as a creative canvas for my hobbies. You can use ready-made planners if you are into that, but I prefer a bullet journal because it is low effort and I can personalize it according to my needs at any given time.

The third habit that made a change in my life is WALKING and YOGA/STRETCHING. I am a last, lethargic person by default. I also do not feel comfortable in settings like gyms or fitness clubs. Therefore, the best option for me was to go on walks. However, because of lockdown, the only thing I could do is work out at home. Please do not think that because I used the word “workout” I meant repetitions of sets of push-ups, or weights. Here is where simple stretches and basic yoga helped me out. If you are anything like me, you should definitely check out some basic stretches.

The fourth habit is LISTENING TO AUDIOBOOKS. I love reading; I am used to finishing off one book a day. Now I have glasses because I read too much on-screen. Which is why, I started listening to audiobooks; and I cannot believe I am saying this but I am in love with them! One of the best advantages of listening to audiobooks is that you get the childhood feeling of someone telling you a story in the most interesting way. Not to mention there are multiple application that have some amazing free audiobooks.

The fifth thing that made a huge change is HARNESSING THE POWER OF VISUALIZATION. I recently read The Secret and that book was honestly eye opening. I started visualizing small goals in my life, just to test if it is true. I received mix results, but it did lead to me being happy, positive and motivated. So if not for anything else, I am visualizing my life and everything in it to keep myself motivated and to keep myself reminded of my goals. One of my favorite tools of visualization is vision boards. I will be writing more about it in other post as well.

This is my takeaway from this year, what is yours? There are still some forty days remaining in this year…. Start doing something that will change your life, because it only takes one small habit to make a significant change in your life.
